The IELTS test is divided into 4 sections, and Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking are all evaluated.
IELTS consists of the actual contents used when studying or working in English-speaking countries.
The focus is on evaluating practical communication skills in English
Reading
● Test Time : 60 Minutes
● Number of Questions : 40 Questions
● Module : Academic Reading and General Training Read are divided into two modules. Select a module when applying for a test.
● Question Type : Multiple choices, short answer type, sentence completion, summary/chart/table/note completion question, diagram naming, connecting heading sentence to paragraphs in the passages, questions about the author's perspective, choice among Yes, No, and Not Given, questions with the information presented in the passage, choice among True, False, and Not Given, connecting phrases/list to paragraphs.
● Academic Reading: The text used for the Academic Reading is selected by excerpts from magazines, periodicals, books, newspapers, etc., and all topics are about general interests, not specific fields or specialties.
● General Training Reading : The passages used for General Training Reading are selected for general content excerpts from notice boards, advertisements, documents from public institutions, pamphlets, newspapers, manuals, leaflets, etc.
Listening
● Test Time : 30 Minutes (After the test time, 10 minutes are given separately)
● Number of Questions : 40 Questions
● Types of Questions : Multiple choices, short answer, sentence completion, note/summary/diagram/flow chart/table completion, sorting, matching)
Speaking
● Test Time : 11-14 Minutes
● Number of Questions : 3 Steps
● IELTS Speaking : The speaking test is an 1:1 interview between the examiner and the applicant, which lasts 11 to 14 minutes. Through mutual communication with the candidates, the examiner evaluates ow effectively the applicant can communicate and express their opinions rather than simply being able to answer questions.
● Step 1 (4-5 minutes) : The tester will introduce himself, check the applicant's ID card, and ask questions about familiar subjects such as personal information.
● Step 2 (3-4 minutes) : After 1-2 minutes presentation on a given topic, the candidate answers a few questions about the topic presented by the examiner.
● Step 3 (4-5 minutes) : Conduct a more in-depth discussion with the tester on the subject given in step 2.
Writing
● Test Composition : Writing section in IELTS requires 2 types of writing to be completed within 60 minutes. Task 1 requires at least 150 words and Task 2 requires a minimum of 250 words and usually 20 and 40 minutes are recommended for each task.
● Academic Writing : Task 1 should compare and analyze data based on the data found in charts, tables, graphs, or figures and describe a series of processes that such data presents. Task 2 requires you to write a short essay in response to a claim or question. Candidates will be evaluated for their ability to view specific issues or discussions presented, establish arguments, and discuss abstract issues.
● General Training Writing : You should write a letter explaining the situation or requesting information from Task 1. Task 2 requires you to write a short essay in response to a claim or question.
